understand me now

Every artist I admire and enjoy has to me an immediately obvious ‘best achievement’ that I can single out immediately as the pinnacle of their expression, their best work. Whether it’s a book, a painting, a film, a performance or a song, I know.

Like with edIT it’s Ashtray, World’s End Girlfriend Singing Under the Rainbow, Wong Kar-Wai In the Mood for Love, F. Scott Fitzgerald The Great Gatsby, Junot Díaz The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, Mount Kimbie Maybes, Gabriel Garcia Marquez One Hundred Years of Solitude, Daniel Day-Lewis There Will Be Blood, Akira Kurosawa Seven Samurai, William S. Burroughs Naked Lunch, Gong Li Raise the Red Lantern and Hieronymus Bosch The Garden of Delights...

Which is why it’s exciting when there’s an artist I like that has a body of work that contains several points of excellence from which I cannot discern a greatest moment. Like with Gustav Klimt, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Il Botticello, Bob Marley, Jan Van Eyck, Christopher Doyle, Paul Klee, Egon Schiele, Vladimir Nabokov, Beats Antique, Haruki Murakami and Pretty Lights. I keep coming across subsequent Pretty Lights tracks that I like just as much or possibly more than whatever just previously my favourite track had been. Right now I’m struck by the great attraction and understated grace that Understand Me Now contains.

Such
a pretty experience of sounds,
what a Beautiful song.

Good song! Reminds me of a cross between Nosaj Thing and Phantogram (speaking of which, this is a good track by Phantogram: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyBXBFDwhdQ).

Have you heard the new Geomatic, '64 Light Years Away'? Even better than the last one--it's the kind of music This Morn Omina should've kept making after 2002 or so... (Geomatic - Serpent's Tooth - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytTaip23N0A).

Bonus:

Chapelier Fou - Half of the Time - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crl2fuK4R1I
Breakage ft. Donae'o - Speechless - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyXB6Z-lwsc (Guess you've likely heard this already.)
Solvent - Formulate - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFqXXK68CQs

Ya I love. Enjoy Nosaj very completely too but to the point where I've overplayed literally every single goddamned beautiful track of his (beginning with 'Aquarium')...

Have to check Phantogram and haven't heard Geomatic. This Morn Omina wow! Will check the rest too, hyped, thanks for suggestions. Am always glad to potentially more and more greatly REAP. Specially when the sounds prove! Relevant.
